Scholarships, Stipends & Internships If you are a student from St. Louis who would like to study in Stuttgart, a student from Stuttgart planning to study in St. Louis, or a student from either area with an interest in experiencing an internship in the vicinity of your sister city, we might be able to help. Scholarships for Study in Stuttgart St. Louis - Stuttgart Scholarship If you are a student in the St. Louis area interested in enrolling in an accredited German language, business, arts, music, sports, etc. program in the Stuttgart area, or are a St. Louis metro-area teacher interested in taking your class on an international, educational exchange trip to Germany, SLSSC offers a scholarship and/or grant of up to $1000 to help you in your endeavor. To learn more and see if you qualify, check out the scholarship details. K. Peter Etzkorn Scholarship The K. Peter Etzkorn Scholarship offers qualified students a one year non-renewable $1500 grant for study in Stuttgart or Karlsruhe. Dr. K. Peter Etzkorn was active in the St. Louis-Stuttgart Sister Cities program, a former member of the board of directors of Sister Cities International, and an honorary member for many years. He taught at several universities before coming to the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1969 where he was hired as a department chairman and professor of sociology and anthropology. He taught sociology at the university for 33 years and also was associate dean of the graduate school and director of research. Dr. K. Peter Etzkorn retired in 2000 and passed away in 2002. In 1984, he was awarded the Order of Merit, First Class of West Germany. The award recognizes his effort to promote exchanges between St. Louis and Stuttgart to internationalize students at all levels.Stipends for Study in St. Louis If you are a student in the Stuttgart area who has decided to study at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, we have financial assistance available to you as well. SLSSC provides a one-time stipend, usually in the amount of $500, to help you get settled into your new home in St. Louis. Internships in St. Louis & Stuttgart If you are a full-time American student at an accredited St. Louis area college or university, at the University of Missouri - Columbia or at Northeastern Missouri State University, or you are a full-time German student at the Berufsakadamie Villingen-Schwennigen or Berufsakadamie Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg, you are eligible for a special program sponsored by Webster University, the Ministry of Art & Science of Baden-Württemberg and its Berufsakademien, and co-sponsored by SLSSC. This program, the German-American Business Internship Exchange Program has, over the last eighteen years, provided more than 325 young German and American students with an opportunity to enjoy an eight week homestay and summer job assignment in the region of their sister city.
