St. Louis - Stuttgart Sister Cities Organizational Structure

Much of the day-to-day work of the St. Louis-Stuttgart Sister Cities, Inc. is done on a volunteer basis by the organizations' members through its various committees. All members are invited to participate in these, and we hope that through them each can more fully experience all of the pleasures and all of the rewards that the association has to offer.

The committees currently chartered include the following:

Business/Trade Committee
Cultural/Educational Exchanges Committee
Finance/Budget Committee
Membership Committee
Public Relations Committee
Special Events Committee

If you would like to volunteer your time on one or more of these committees, please send us an e-mail message stating your area(s) of preference. One of the SLSSC Officers or Directors will contact you.

Business/Trade Committee

Acts as liaison with the St. Louis Center for International Relations for contacts with official channels in city and county government and appropriate business and trade organizations/associations
Acts as liaison with conventions and exhibit bureaus
Organizes outgoing trade delegations and works on arrangements for incoming trade delegations

Cultural/Educational Exchanges Committee

Organizes ad-hoc committees for art, music, theater, and people-to-people exchanges
Maintains contacts with organizations in St. Louis and Stuttgart to assess potential exchanges
Acts as liaison with organizations, coordinators and schools that are involved in exchanges with Stuttgart
Works with hospitality and housing committee when appropriate
Conducts scholarship competition(s) each year
Exchange with Stuttgart Jugendhaus
German-American Business Internship Exchange

Finance/Budget Committee

Creates target annual budgets
Makes recommendations on grant requests
Establishes a voucher system
Ascertain income needs
Plans and executes "major" fund raising events
Works with events committees to incorporate fund raising opportunities into their events
Researches opportunities for grants and for solicitation of gifts and donations

Recruits members
Maintains list of members in good standing
Publishes annually a directory
Distributes membership list to Board of Directors
Works with Special Events committee chair to plan membership events
